Master Timothy Chee appears at the MCO public performance
Ipoh folks are in for a spectacular evening when Ipoh-based artist Timothy Chee paints a picture of a dragon within a 12ft X 8ft cloth in six minutes with the accompaniment of school students playing the Chinese classical instruments.
Chee, a former teacher of SMI, whose expertise is sought-after by charity organisations within the state for his fund raising ability, uses only a single brush and black Chinese ink.
This outstanding feat will be demonstrated at the public concert by the Michaelian Chinese Orchestra (MCO) of St. Michael's Institution here on Mar 24 at 7.30pm at its school hall.
Themed “An Evening With Dragon’s Melody”, MCO was founded by LaSallian Brother Vincent Corkery, an Irish, 40 years ago.
Besides promoting traditional Chinese instrumental music to the public, especially to the younger generation, the concert is to raise funds to replace some damaged instruments and to purchase new ones for upgrading purposes.
Other highlights that evening include a hip-hop dance by the Michaelian Aerobic and Dance Society, a Boria performance by the Persatuan Bahasa & Kesusasteraan Melayu and a classical dance by the Michaelian Tamil Language Society. The school's Wushu Club will present a lion dance and a martial art demonstration.
Tickets are going fast. They are priced at RM10, RM20, RM50 and RM100 each.
