We have identified another group of old boys. An e-mail was sent over to us and we were pleasantly surprised that, besides the OMA and the KL Alumni, another group of Michaelians who call themselves, SMI Old Boys, have been conducting their own networking and links. We welcome all of you to the Michaelian fraternity and hope that we can work out something. Just a little update.
SMI will be staging the “Camelot” for three days, Aug 15 to Aug 17, 2008 at 7.45pm.
The story is about the king of all England, who was raised in the woods by a magician. Arthur grows up to become a king (King Arthur) who wants to make a "civilized" world ruled by law, not violence, where violence is not strength; compassion is not weakness."
This is our 47th drama production, the first being “Poet of Ispaha” which was staged in 1955. Throughout the years, we have maintained the strong drama tradition by performing plays like “The King of Sherwood” (1966), “OLIVER”(1977), “ WIZARD OF OZ” (1984) “Justice Pao” (1999).
Twenty seven students, mainly sixth formers, lead the cast with 12 musicians, also students of the school. Tickets are priced at RM20 and RM50.
Principal Mr Phoon Chong Chee said the proceeds from the play, besides upgrading of the school’s facilities, will go towards human development of academically weak students, equipping them with the necessary guidance and coaching by trained and experienced teachers.

The Old Michaelians Association will be holding its annual reunion dinner at the Red Crescent Hall on September 27, 2008 at 7.30pm. Some 500 old boys, including those from Australia, UK and United States are expected to join in the celebration. Members from Penang, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore are also expected to attend.
Prior to the dinner, the official opening of the new St Michael’s primary school, built in memory of Brother Ultan Paul, will be held at 3pm on the same day. The Guest-of-Honour is Brother Vincent Corkery.
For details about the two events, call Adrian Tsen at 012-5089191 or Yip Chee Thong at 019-5567913.
And now, this is the e-mail from an old boy (who represented many other Michaelians)
Hello Mr Khiew,
How are u? First of all congrats for your effort in making your blog as a medium for the school in spreading its news and update the people particularly the Michaelians out there. Something that we are waiting for so long. SMI Old Boys is a platform for us the ex-smi students to reunite.
It is not an association nor it's another branch of OMA and SMI Alumni. We are a group of students mainly from the batch of 92-96 and few juniors are with us. We act independently. As you have seen from our blog, we had organized a few events such as sport activities and a gathering among ourselves. We are also trying to contribute to the school by various means in the future in terms of monetary or non-monetary.
Thus we also believe that in doing so, we need the support from the school administrators and by creating a link between us and the teachers as well as the administrators. Hope we keep in touch. By the way, the author of the blog is Mohd Dzran who is also the person in charge of this mail and the one who types these words.:) How about the school drama? Are the tickets still available? My friends and I would like to come and watch the play. How much is the ticket and when is the suitable date for the old boys to come because if i'm not mistaken there are various nights such as parents' night and others. Thank you.
Note: The public performances are on 15,16 and 17 August, 2008 at 7.45pm. Tickets are priced at RM20 and RM50. T-shirts (very limited) are also available at RM16 each. The full dress rehearsal is Aug 9, 2008. This time around residents from the Salvation Army Boys Home, Salvation Army Jalan Kampar, Simee Old Folks Home and Asrama Bintang will be invited to join in the celebration of Michaelian tradition in performing arts.
