May 8, 2009 (3.30pm) In The Gallery

Restoration works started. Plenty of wiping, cleaning up and sprucing up to do. From zero to a pride of St Michael's.

If the wood is not treated fast, the rot will totally affect the entire tables, cabinets and cupboards. Work started as soon as the items were carried into the gallery. Look at the table and cabinet in the picture we savaged. It could be easily around 70 to 80 years old. The lacquer or varnish painting was gone, rendered the surface exposed to the elements. They are beginning to show signs of damage! Our timely intervention managed to save the items!
Same goes to the other cabinets. The workers are doing a great and remarkable job.
Coming post - the transformed pieces of yesteryears.

Slowly but surely. That the word in describing our Heritage Room. It is now becoming a reality. A dream of every Michaelian. Michaelians of tomorrow will remember you and your dedicated team in making this a reality. Kudos.
