THE VISIT OF SUPERIOR GENERAL BROTHER ALVARO FROM ITALY

The Lasallian Family in Perak and Penang is ready to welcome Superior General of the Christian Brothers Brother Alvaro Rodriguez to Ipoh tomorrow, 21 March 2010.
Brother Alvaro holds the highest office of the Christian Brothers, whose 4,000 brothers and more than 73,000 lay men and women teach more than 900,000 students in schools, colleges, and universities in 80 countries.
In addition to serving as a teacher and administrator, Brother Alvaro is a former auxiliary visitor for the District of Central America and Vicar General.
A native of Costa Rica, he was named Superior General in 2000. Brother graduated from Universidad La Salle Mexico and then joined the Central America District of the Christian Brothers and professed his eternal vows in 1968.
He began his career in education as a teacher, administrator, and mentor in Mexico and Guatemala for eight years.
Note: The Christian Brothers are part of a tradition handed down from Saint John Baptist de La Salle, patron saint of teachers in the Roman Catholic Church, who founded the order in 1684. They live in community and support one another and their associates in fulfilling the Church's apostolic mission of service through education. While teaching is their central activity, Brothers and their colleagues work as administrators, staff, counselors, and advisors.

SELAMAT DATANG KE IPOH, BROTHER ALVARO.
