The strong tradition goes on. For Michaelians, the last Saturday of September would be a day all congregate in Ipoh for a vibrant and grand reunion day for old Michaelians worldwide. Last year marked another splendid gathering for some 800 Michaelians to catch up old time and renew friendship.
OMA president Mr Adrian Tsen, in his speech, warmly commended those who took the effort to attend. He also congratulated the recipients of last year’s Diamond, Golden, Ruby, Silver and Pewter jubilarians for their undivided loyalty to the Alma Mater.
He said the countdown to our first centenary(1912-2010) has begun, with several projects successfully implemented, notably the new primary school building built in memory of Brother Ultan Paul, re-roofing of SMI’s main building, well-equipped boys and ladies toilets and the main boardroom.

“Our dream is to have SMI restored to pristine splendour for the big occasion”, Mr Adrian Tsen said, followed by a big applause from the audience.

Among those who attended the reunion were the ever-supportive Brother Vincent Corkery, Brother Matthew Liew, Brother Matthew Bay, representatives from St Paul’s, St George’s, St Xavier’s, illuminaries Dato’ Foo Wan Kien, Dato’ Lee Hau Hian, SMI KL Alumni's Dr Chin Yoong Kheong, Mr Lee Wei Seong and Miss Jeannie Khoo.
Former principals Mr Teh Chor Aun and Mr Louis Rozario Doss and our ever-green and ever-dynamic former teachers, among others Mr Noel Oliveiro, Mr Timothy Chee, Mr Stephen Ng, Mr Choo Ah Chye and Mr See Tean Seng.
Our hats off and salute to all in witnessing the solid and robust Michaelian spirit abound that evening.
Looking forward to another great year, the year of the Tiger!
