Howdy!

It's great to be back. Received plenty of queries as to the reasons why the blog was not updated. The school is laden with programs and more programs. First we had the SMI annual drama, then we had the Speech Day, before that we held a banquet for Dato' Brother Vincent Corkery at the school hall. It was a fun-filled and meaningful get-together. Many former teachers turned up for the celebration. Among them were Masters Lee Kah Chee, Clement Vythalingan, Charlie Wong, Clement Manickam, Steven Ng and Louis Ho.These are the pioneers who walked the corridors of St Michael's during the heydays. We attribute our respect and admiration for these luminaries.
I am well and kicking. St Michael's is still THE school we are proud of. A committee, headed by Tan Sri Lee Oi Hian, has been set up. Members including Dato' Brother Vincent Corkery and Brother Matthew Bay, OMA's Mr Adrian Tsen, PIBG's Mr Joseph Michael Lee, Mr Phoon Chong Chee, Mr Harneak and myself. We sat on a high-powered team to look into the centennial celebrations. Among the proposals that are going into implementations are the printing of special edition of St Michael's exercise books from 2011 and the wearing of either collar tags or button badges that carry, " I AM MICHAELIAN".
Wow! What a way to welcome the centennial celebrations.
Will the evening sky on September 29, 2012 be brighten up with some pyrotechnics devices and fireworks? Yes, you are right. We have plans for that.
From time to time, old and present Michaelians will be informed of the latest happenings. This BLOG is here to stay. A little hiatus means one is taking a breather.

SOME COMMENTS FROM THE OLD BOYS

Hi Mr Khiew,

Probably the post that I'd anticipate the most. COLLAR TAGS THAT SAYS "I'M A MICHAELIAN"? Boy do I want it... very badly...
I was looking around for some sort of trinket that would represent SMI while going back and forth from work. At least, that would keep reminding us that I am part of SMI family. When is it going to be finalised and when will we Old Michaelians be able to grab our hands on it?

Hello Mr Peter Khiew,

Pravindharan Balakrishnan
Class of SPM 2006 (5 Science 6)

I guess the queries shows the strong bond old Michaelians possess in their alma mater. Indeed, I myself a frequent visitor in this blog was left in puzzle as there was no update. But like what you said Mr Khiew, one needs a breather! We, ex Michaelians, indeed appreciate your work in this blog as it provides essential information on our beloved alma mater.
Anyway, Mr Khiew, I would like to ask, in the past, there was development that a Michaelian necktie would be made for the working class ex Michaelians. However, there have been no updates on it and its potential availability to the old boys. Thus, I was wondering, is the necktie-plan still on?
Thank you and wish you the best!

From Peter Khiew
Oh yes. The plan for the neckties is still on. OMA had looked through some designs earlier which are appropriate to be worn at work. Thank you, Pravin and Andrew. Make plans to join us at the Centennial Grand Dinner.

Hello Andrew,
It's indeed very interesting to usher in the centennial celebrations of our alma mater we so attached with. Yes, many souvenirs including neck ties, T-shirts and car stickers will emerge to paint the town green and white! I was told by Mr Adrian Tsen that bantings will also be put up at strategis spots around town to announce our great day.
