A Note From Cheryl Campbell of Australia.

LATEST!!!!!!!
Aug 12, 2010.
Some new developments. An old boy has asked around and he reverted to me today that a senior citizen and former teacher in Canning Garden has heard of the name. In fact, he could recall many things about the gentleman named NG KOON KHOON. I will be contacting the former teacher and obtain more details from him. In the meantime, Dato Bro Vincent Corkery has also enlisted the help of SMI office staff to look into the records dated back to the 30s. We will keep watch over this matter.

To Whom It May Concern,

I am writing to you to obtain some assistance regarding my family research. I hope you are able to help.
My father attended St. Michael’s Institution from the age of 6 (1933) and when his father passed away at 10 years old, he commenced boarding at the school, until WW2 (1941) when the school was closed. We are trying to find out information regarding his parents and are hoping that St. Michael’s Institution may have records that may contain his parents birth dates, perhaps on an application form (or some other form) they may have completed.
My fathers name is: Ng Koon Khoon (Robert) dob: 25 Feb 1927.
His parents names are:
Father: - Ng Sek Foon
Mother: - Goon Wai Ching
Any information you may have, including birth dates would be greatly appreciated. Also, are there any class photographs from that period?

Sincerely,
Cheryl Campbell.

Some extra information from Cheryl Campbell

Thank you for posting the message on the school blog.  His father, Ng Sek Foon , was the founder of Kwan Loong Medicated Oil  - if you want to post that on the blog as well. It may jolt some memories. Would there still be school records kept from back then that may have details of my father’s parents on them as we are hoping to be able to glean as much information as possible such as their birth dates. I am doing family research on my father’s parents and have very little information on them.  My father didn’t live far from the school and  recalls walking to school. Would there have been any class photos taken back then that may have been kept for  school records?  It would be great to have a copy of  that as part of our family history. My father did say he loved playing sports and was a  keen soccer and hockey player.

Thank you for your assistance and any information would be greatly appreciated.

Cheryl
