SMI Basketball Court- The venue of OMA Dinner this year!
The Old Michaelians Association (OMA) annual dinner is back. This will be the time of the year Michaelians far and wide are getting together for fellowship, rekindling of friendship or perhaps, back to the alma mater for a visit.
Our Centennial Dinner last year generated excellent response from more than 3000 Michaelians, making the occasion well-remembered and easily the greatest get-together of old boys ever.
This year will be no difference. Michaelians have started to enquire about the 2013 dinner since January this year. Everyone wants to be assured of getting tables this time around. Now the details.

TIME: 7.30PM

Note: We need these particulars:
a. The name of person making the reservation of table or tables. (will be responsible for payment later)
b. Year of Class in Form Five
c. Contact number (mobile and e-mail)

No payment is necessary at this moment. We will inform you later on when payment can be made. All bookings done by the person responsible will be highlighted on this BLOG. (Please take note that this BLOG is the official platform for all details pertaining to OMA Annual Dinner 2013).

This gathering is going to be another fun time for all Michaelians. Act fast and be counted!

What's Up At the Alma Mater...

The Annual visit to SMI Alumni KL to SMI on April 12, 2013

An old boy, who declined to be identified, through the SMI KL Alumni contributed RM5,000 to the Michaelian Military Band. The alumni also remember the needy students by giving RM15,000 to them. From right, SMI Alumni president Mr Michael Lip, principal Madam Loh and band leader Chin Why Honn.
Mr Lee Tat Boon, a lawyer and senior partner of the Intellectual Property Division, Skrine giving a talk to our boys at the La Salle Auditorium.

The Wushu boys accorded a warm welcome to the old boys.
SMI athletes made waves at the recently concluded sports meet with a record breaking feat in shot putt and winning gold in other events. With them are the Principal (centre) and En Adi Yusri (left)
Last but not least, timeout with fellow Michaelians at the Rainbow makan place enjoying our favourite ice-kacang buah. Moments like this, we treasure greatly. From left, Brother Matthew Bay, Anthony Lourdes and Thomas Wong.
Best wishes from us.

Back To SMI after more than 45 years

Home Coming of Siblings To St Michael's.
Not been back at St Michael's for decades, Mr Ho Mun Piew decided to pay the alma mater a visit when he was in Ipoh during the recent Chinese festival. It was a sweet walk down memory lane with his wife and two sisters. The Ho's were obviously excited with the many features of the school, particularly the Form Six classes they were studying in, the science labs, the Marian Library and of course, the chapel. Their years at SMI have left an indelible impression which they still treasure immensely.
Mr Ho, who currently lives in Singapore, studied here from 1956 to 1968 while his sisters studied here in the early 70s.
Best wishes from us at St Michael's Ipoh.

Note: We received an e-mail from Mr Ho, a few days after the visit.

The Memory Lives On...

Michaelian Military Band boys, representing the entire Michaelian community, were in attendance to pay tribute to a great Michaelian. For many of us, Harneak Singh's extraordinary and immense contribution to St Michael's is obvious. Below are remarks written by those who are priviledged to know him, some even from primary school days. From the time when e-mails went around informing one another of his condition...
A Tribute To An Extraordinary Michaelian - Harneak Singh (1963-2013)
Dear All,
Just to let you all know that our dear friend Harneak Singh currently is very ill in Ipoh Specialist Centre.
Harneak is someone who had displayed tremendous "Michaelian Spirit" and is a true friend. Let's all of us pray for his recovery.
Thanks for the info. I am now serving under the United Nation Mission in Sudan.
I will pray for him because the last I saw him he was good, before coming to Sudan on Sept 2012 I visited him in his Bank Office. May the GOD bless him for fast recovery.
He had done a lot for the Old Michaelians Association and also to the School as well.
May GOD Bless him .

This is truly a sad day. He is a true Michaelian and a great friend till the very end, a great loss to all. Please send my deepest condolences to his family. Let me know if you guys are doing anything for him or need to chip in.
May our dear brother, Harneak rest in peace.
He left us this morning.
He will be cremated tomorrow noon.
A True and Valiant Michaelian.

Harneak's untimely passing still lingers in my mind. His passing has created a vacuum as far as St Michael's Ipoh is concerned. September will be the month all of us come together in memory of a great guy who never said no to anyone. I consider Harneak as a great Michaelian, valiant and true.

e-mail to share with everyone what you have to say about Harneak.

Harneak is truly a great and illustrious Michaelian. A mere mention of something Michaelian was suffice to energise this warm and soft-spoken man who possessed a tremendous interest and desire for all things that had to do with the school.
His Michaelian spirit and love for the alma mater will continue to inspire all of us.
He left us at around 11am this morning.
Rest In Peace. Deepest condolence to all his family members.
Note: His address, 17, Lengkok Rishah, Taman Rishah, Ipoh. Funeral Service at his residence tonight. Cremation tomorrow at the Jalan Gurwara, Sikh Temple. Journey from the house is at 1.30pm.

Drama T-Shirts Are On Sale Now

Limited edition - Grab one today!
Available only once a year in conjunction with the annual drama, specially designed T-shirts are sought-after items among Michaelians. "Attractively designed, quality material, worth for my money and looks trendy" are some of the remarks given by teachers, parents, old boys and students. Yesterday was a busy day for teachers as they were approached by impatient students to get their T-shirts.
The school ordered only limited quantity so many consider the items as "Limited Edition" which further fuel to the unusually demand this time around.
For die-hard Michaelians, the drama T-shirts are great keepsake, especially souvenir hunters.
Sold for only RM25 each, the T-shirts incorporate another Michaelian event which has begun to attract huge followings - Michaelian Talentime 2013.
To order or purchase, e-mail or simply drop by at St Michael's during office hours. See the blogger. Don't miss out.
Students proudly showing off the T-shirts they bought.
By the way, remember "The Lion King" and Talentime 2013, April 12, 13 and 14, 2013 at 7.45pm. Venue: School Hall and meet your favourite characters and talented Michaelians in action!
