OMA Annual Dinner Ended With A Bang

The OMA dinner held on 28 September 2013 was another success, judging by the overwhelmed response by the regular old boys who wanted to be with their friends every year.
For many, it was an annual meeting in Ipoh and at SMI to catch up the latest news, perhaps for a day or a few hours then they would part ways for yet another round of get-together the following year.
It was for that reason, old Michaelians consider the annual dinners as a must-attend affair. The OMA dinner is now considered as a balik kampung.
Just as the OMA president Mr Adrian Tsen said in his message, "It warms the hearts of Michaelians coming from far and near to return to the old school, so full of memories for them, above all the majestic building -the pillar and icon of Michaelian pride".
Many are already asking when the 2014 dinner is held and the answer is always the last Saturday of September every year. If Saturday is the day, then balik kampung would probably start on Thursday or Friday with family members in tow. Friday and Saturday morning are usually a tour in the school, showing proudly to their spouses and children the classrooms they studied in or the places they usually hang out with their friends etc.
Old Michaelians singing the School Rally with such high energy, simply amazing.
The dinner this year gathered about 900 old boys at the basketball court with guests from other La Salle schools like St George's, St Paul's and members from the SMI KL Alumni. Brother Vincent and Brother Matthew Bay were also with us.
The committee members were pleased that their months of preparations had indeed culminated with many happy faces and heaps of praises from many. We are looking forward to next year's dinner but as of now, it's time to take a break.

Around 6.30pm on Saturday, 28 September 2013.
SMI principal Mdm Loh (second from left) is among those receiving their certificates. She studied Form Six in SMI in 1974 and 1975.

Another group of jubilarians with Brother Vincent
I take the opportunity to thank school principal Mdm Loh Wei Seng, her teacher advisers in charge of the Military Band (Mr Liew Boon Ket), prefects (Mr Karu) and scouts (Mr Christopher) for their strong support in making the occasion special and memorable.

QUIS UT DEUS,
