It's BaCk... SMI AnnUal DrAma 2014

Beauty and The Beast..Something to look forward to this year. The message is simple, "Know Yourself and Be Yourself", echoing one of SMI annual themes.
"Firstly, Belle doesn't care what other people think of her and her father. She does what she likes, and does not do what she does to impress other people. In a time when people frowned on women reading, she did it because she enjoyed it and it didn't melt her brain into a puddle of mush.
Another lesson it conveys is loving your family. Belle decided instead of having her father trapped in the Beast's castle, she would take his place. This tries to get kids to understand the importance of family.
Not judging a person by their appearance is another. Gaston liked Belle, but he was an ignorant self-centered, and narcissistic, and Belle saw that and rejected him. The Beast looked horrid, but once Belle got to know him, they fell in love.
The Last lesson I caught was first impressions are not always correct. The Beast imprisoned her father when she just met him. If she had just judged him, they would have never fallen in love. It teaches to love and look deeper than skin."
That's the Michaelian way. "Know Yourself and Be Yourself"

Among the top scorers are Amardas Singh, Subashan, Bryan Cheah, Edward Kwan, Tan Wei Shern, Lee Hong Lam, Kevin Tai, Lee Guan Qin and Kuhan. Overall, all Michaelians scored well in the exams and most were pleased with their results. Congratulations to all.

Yes, honesty still exists at SMI

The young honest boy with Cikgu Sidik (left) and Cikgu Sohot.
Pravielana s/o Patmansritharan, a Form Two boy was walking along La Salle Auditorium when he saw a wallet. He knew what he had to do. He picked the leather wallet up, walked to the staff room and asked where was Cikgu Sidik, the afternoon session senior assistant. The blogger happened to be with Cikgu Sidik, Cikgu Azhar and Cikgu Sohot discussing about the hottest topic of the day – the missing MH370.
The young lad walked up to him and showed the wallet to Cikgu Sidik and told Cikgu Sidik about his encounter.  Upon checking, there were two stacks of notes and many other cards. The teachers in the staff room came up to him and congratulated him for his honesty. He flushed a little. Nevertheless, he knew he did something he was proud of.
The young boy was brought up well by his parents and that was demonstrated through his action – not taking what was not his. He walked back to the classroom with his head held high! He has made his parents and school proud.
Perhaps the school can arrange for special slots during the weekly assembly to recognise and salute these boys who choose to do the right things.
Onward Michaelians United and True.

True Blue Michaelians .

The blogger finally managed to trace the two Michaelians who, with their guitars, sang the School Rally beautifully at the school parlour. They are simply amazing. Thank you, Tan Tihn Chern and RJ Kevin. Thanks to a few MMB guys who assisted in tracking them down and also to send over the video clip. Superb!
